What kind of yo yo should I get for my son to start learning tricks?

My son (7 years old) has gotten into yo yo's and is quickly becoming pretty proficient. The problem is the yo yo he is using is a piece of junk (got it as a give away from a baseball game.) I know the better yo yo's have ball bearing axles. What kind of yo yo should I get him and where would I get one?

  1. Duncan yo-yo's are awesome ones. I believe walmart, target, toys r us and other stores carry them. Have a great day!
  2. http://www.yoyonation.com is THE place to get yo-yo's. As for what to get, I would suggest something like a Lyn Fury, Kickside, or Journey. These are all great YoYoJam products and recommended by pretty much all players that hang out on the yoyonation forum.
  3. Hello there! Out of all the plastic yoyos I've tried, the Lyn Fury is my favorite. The Lyn Fury has a great weight distribution and the response is changeable. I would not recommend any Duncan yoyo because it uses the friction sticker response which needs constant maintenance. Here are the yoyos I recommend: Lyn Fury: http://yoyonation.com/product.php?productid=16148&cat=0&page=1 Kickside: http://yoyonation.com/product.php?productid=16172&cat=0&page=1 Speedmaker: http://yoyonation.com/product.php?productid=16221&cat=0&page=1 Overall, almost any plastic YYJ is a good yoyo for your son. They all perform equally and can't go wrong with either one. Me, I prefer the Lyn, but all YYJs perform the same and will lead to great yoyoing. When buying yoyos, I do not recommend buying them from any retail stores. The ones at retail stores are still "pieces of junk." I'd recommend buying it from the online store: www.yoyonation.com Very trustworthy, the owners are very friendly and set a priority in customer service. Happy yoyoing!
